One helpful habit to cultivate is to have a monkey mind dump each morning through writing. If you already have a journal, great. If not, any notebook will do. Find time each morning to sit in a quiet space for this ritual. It is pretty self explanatory. Literally dump your monkey mind (your random thoughts) onto paper. Whatever comes to mind, write it down. No structure, no planning, not even nice handwriting is required. It could be something you're worried about, your insecurities, something you observed at the grocery store, an issue you've been meaning to discuss with your spouse, something you're excited about at work, a concern you have with your child, your fears, your regrets. Anything. Dump it all into your journal.
